Privacy Policy

1. Overview

Frameo ("we", "us") operates mp4togifconverter.com, a free tool that converts MP4 videos into GIF images. This policy explains what happens to your data when you use it. Because the conversion is performed by your own browser, the amount of data we handle is unusually small.

2. Your video files

Your MP4 file is read using the browser's local File API and decoded with the WebCodecs API inside the page. The file, the decoded frames, and the finished GIF are never transmitted to us or to any third party. There is no upload endpoint, no object storage bucket, and no retention period, because no copy is ever created on a server.

If you close the tab, the file handle is released by the browser and the in-memory data is discarded.

3. Data stored on your device

To let you download a GIF again later, the finished GIF and a small amount of metadata (file name, resolution, frame count, size, and creation time) are saved in your browser's IndexedDB storage under the database name frameo-local. This data:

• stays on your device and is never synced to an account;
• is limited to the 20 most recent conversions and roughly 60 MB;
• can be deleted at any time from the History view, or by clearing site data in your browser.

We cannot read this data. It is not a backup, and clearing your browser storage will remove it permanently.

4. Server logs

The site itself is served as static files by a hosting provider (Cloudflare). Like any web host, it processes standard request data such as your IP address, user agent, requested URL, and timestamp in order to deliver the page and protect against abuse. We do not combine these logs with any conversion activity, because we never see your conversion activity.

5. Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-WMLKEHH8SR) to understand which pages are useful and where visitors get stuck. It runs on every page load and sets first-party cookies (_ga and _ga_*) that distinguish returning visitors from new ones.

What it records: page views, approximate location derived from your IP address, device and browser type, referring site, and interactions such as starting a conversion. What it never receives: the file you select, its name, its contents, or the GIF you produce — that data exists only inside your browser and is never transmitted.

We switch off Google Signals and ad personalisation for this property, so the data is used for aggregate traffic measurement rather than advertising profiles.

You can refuse this measurement without losing any functionality: block googletagmanager.com with an ad blocker or your browser's tracking protection, or use a private window. The converter keeps working offline once the page has loaded, because it never depends on the network. Google's own opt-out browser add-on is also available. 6. Advertising

This site may display advertising to cover hosting costs. If advertising is enabled, the ad network may set cookies or use similar technologies to measure and personalise ads, and its own privacy policy applies to that processing. Advertising scripts are never given access to the contents of your video, because the conversion happens before and independently of any ad request.

Where required by law, you will be asked for consent before personalised advertising cookies are set, and you can decline.

7. Your choices

• Opt out of analytics: block googletagmanager.com in your browser or ad blocker, or browse in a private window. No feature is affected.
• Delete local history: use "Clear all" in the History view, or clear site data for this domain in your browser settings.
• Block advertising cookies: use your browser's cookie controls or an ad blocker. The converter keeps working.
• Avoid local storage entirely: use a private browsing window; history will be discarded when you close it.

We do not sell personal information. We do not maintain user accounts, so there is no profile to export or delete on our side.

8. Children

The service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Since no account is required and files stay on the device, there is no registration data to collect.

9. Changes to this policy

If the way this tool handles data changes — for example if a server-side conversion option is added — this page will be updated and the date above revised. Material changes will be announced on the site.
